How to Use Zapper to Track Your web3 Portfolio
You have created a wallet. You have made your first token or NFT purchase. You are excited to see how well your investment is doing. However, if you are a newcomer, it isn’t always clear where to find easy to understand information on your assets. This article walks you through how to use Zapper to track your entire web3 portfolio and use dashboard features that make web3 easy to understand.
What is web3?
Web3 is an emerging version of the Internet that is built on top of decentralized crypto-economic networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The beauty about web3 networks is that they are not controlled by any single centralized entity, yet they are built in a way that allows users to trust them. This version of the Internet is owned by the builders and users, and orchestrated with blockchains and tokens. To learn more, check out our article on web3.
The opportunity of web3 comes with a bit of complexity when it comes to keeping tabs on where your assets are invested and how much they are worth. There are many different blockchain networks, and they all support hundreds of tokens, both fungible and non-fungible. Luckily, keeping track of all your web3 assets across chains is why Zapper was created!
What is Zapper?
Zapper is the ultimate asset management platform for web3. The Zapper dashboard allows you to track, invest, and exchange more than 3000 digital assets on Ethereum, Avalanche, Fantom, Polygon, BSC, Harmony, Celo, Gnosis, Moonriver, Arbitrum, and Optimism.
From the dashboard, users can easily view all their digital investments related to DeFi and NFTs. Our dashboard makes it simple for users to alter their investment strategies by exchanging assets; providing liquidity in a variety of pools; staking tokens; depositing assets to earn passive income; bridging from one network to another; and studying wallets of peers, colleagues, and public figures to stay on top of the latest trends in web3.
Tracking your web3 Portfolio with Zapper
The first step in almost everybody’s journey into web3 is to set up a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet. To learn more about wallets, including how to choose what type to use, read this article.
Once you have a wallet, you can visit zapper.fi and get access to our dashboard. You will have the choice to connect to Zapper with your existing cryptocurrency wallet, or just watch a wallet by entering an address. Note that you will not be able to do any transactions until a wallet is properly connected.
Zapper supports most cryptocurrency wallets or wallet connectors on Ethereum, including Metamask, Ledger, Trezor, Portis, Opera, Gnosis Safe, Keystone, WalletConnect, Lattice, Fortmatic, Torus, Coinbase Wallet, and XDEFI Wallet.
Once your wallet is connected, you will be able to see all your assets from NFTs and crypto tokens to DeFi protocols you are investing in. If you have multiple cryptocurrency wallets, you can connect them all and switch from one wallet to another.
Personalize Your Wallets
Once you have all your wallets connected to the dashboard, you can have some fun customizing each wallet profile! To edit the name of each of your wallets, you can use the pencil icon to create labels.
You can build your digital identity by selecting one of your NFTs to use as an avatar for each of your wallets. This avatar will be visible to anyone who looks up your wallet address on Zapper.
From your dashboard, hover over your avatar icon to prompt an edit button to appear. Click & select an NFT you own as your new wallet avatar. Please note that setting up an avatar will require you to sign a transaction. There is NO fee for this transaction.
If you would like to see a bundled view of all your wallets, you can do so with the “My Bundles” widget on the right-side panel by clicking on the “+” button.
Creating a bundle of specific combinations of wallets allows you to customize how you view different groups of your assets. For example, if you have three wallets you use for involvement in DAOs, you can make a “DAO” bundle that displays the assets you have in your DAO-focused wallets.
To make tracking your customized views easier, you can switch between a single wallet view and bundled wallet views from the dashboard homepage.
How Does Zapper Organize Assets ?
On the dashboard homepage, your assets are divided into three categories: Portfolio, NFTs, and History. Each category displays different information about different types of assets in your wallet. Simply click on the desired category to view your assets that way.
If you have connected a wallet, the portfolio view is the first thing you see when you visit zapper.fi. It displays all your DeFi assets according to what tokens are in your wallet, classified as various positions, including: Wallet, Deposits, Claimable, Debt, Protocols, and Networks.
Selecting a category gives you a more detailed view of the assets and investments you have in that particular category. It gives you the ability to drill down and unwrap your positions for a clearer picture.
In the picture below, for example, you can see that this wallet address has a total of $4,986.38 in assets, split among at least 9 different tokens on 4 different chains.
If you want to explore your assets on a particular protocol, they will look something like the picture below. In this example, the user has $635.76 of Uniswap V3 assets, $578.22 of which is deposited in a USDC/ETH liquidity pool, and $57.53 of which is a claimable award that the user earned for providing liquidity using Uniswap’s protocol.
Whether you are an experienced NFT collector or you just made your first investment, you can use Zapper to keep track of relevant NFT data, including the net worth of your NFTs, the value of individual NFTs you own, the floor price of collections you’ve invested in, and other useful information.
In the NFTs tab, you can view your NFTs grouped by collection along with an estimated Net Worth and useful links related to the collections.
The history tab is there to help you keep track of all the transactions performed on your wallet across multiple networks and sidechains. You can view all historical transactions in chronological order, across all supported chains.
Transactional Features on Zapper
Connecting your wallet to Zapper also unlocks several transactional features that can be performed directly from the dashboard, including token exchanges, bridging, liquidity pools, yield farming, and the save feature.
Exchanging a token for another token of your choice is very easy on Zapper. Head to the “Exchange” tab on the left hand navigation bar.
Be sure to select the network that you want to acquire your token on from the bottom left corner of the page. Zapper supports Ethereum, Avalanche, BSC, Optimism, Fantom, and Polygon for all your token swaps.
You can use Zapper to exchange any token in your wallet, for another token of your choice. You customize the amount you would like to exchange, and Zapper will source and load an optimized exchange route and summarize all the details necessary for the exchange. If you are happy with the exchange rate, route, and network fees, you can perform the exchange.

In order to move funds from one network to another, you need to use a bridge in order to do so. Luckily, Zapper offers this feature directly from our dashboard. Zapper users can move assets across Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, BSC, Avalanche, Fantom, and Gnosis Chain.
From the bridge page, select the chain you want to bridge to, the type of tokens you wish to send and receive, and click Bridge.
To learn more about bridges and their functionalities, make sure to read this article.
Pools, Farms, and Savings
If you want to enter a liquidity pool, a yield farm, or even earn interest on your assets through our Save feature, you do it directly from the Zapper dashboard. Just head to the appropriate page, make sure you select the desired network, input the required information, and execute the transaction.
We recently launched social features which let users follow their favourite wallets on the Zapper dashboard. From the homepage, you can see how many wallets you are following, how many followers you have, and your rank on the followers leaderboard. Clicking on any of these numbers will take you to a page where you can find lists of who you are following, your followers, and the full leaderboard.
By following other people’s wallets, you can keep an eye on trends in web3 and keep an eye on the investment strategies of everyone you follow.
